Os engenheiros da Disney criaram um mecanismo, a partir de uma nova tecnologia de apoio, para fornecer descrições detalhadas das áreas ao ar livre para os hóspedes com deficiência visual. Utilizando um menu interativo de áudio, os visitantes podem escolher o tipo de informação que desejam receber, desde informações arquitetónicas do local, até a localização da casa de banho mais próxima.
O dispositivo funciona utilizando uma tecnologia sem fios para localizar a sua posição e retornar informação ajustada, pré-programada.
O melhor de tudo é que cabe na palma da mão.
Segundo os engenheiros da Disney, o dispositivo já reúne muitos outros recursos, incluindo audiodescrição detalhada de mais de 50 atracções, audioamplificado para pessoas com perda auditiva (de leve a moderada), legendagem portátil que permite aos frequentadores ler as legendas enquanto desfrutam de passeios específicos; e activação de legendas em monitores de televisão em áreas de pré-show.
O novo aparelho está disponível no Walt Disney World (Flórida) desde 27 de junho de 2010 e será disponibilizado na Disneyland (Califórnia) em 2011 e será totalmente gratuito!
